    Character Background: Stevan Kyanus

Life as a soldier isn't easy. It demands much and often, yet the rewards of seeing the faces of those you saved is a miracle of Mitra itself. For a leader his men and women under his banner are his arms and legs, sword and shield, breathing as one exhale, beating in one heartbeat. I've known bloodshed for many a moon, I wasn't always fighting for the right side either. But the men that followed me meant more to me then the damned king I served. Many a sin I wish I could take back for the bloodshed I've reeked under the orders of my king. At first I was consume by battle and cared not who face me but when we were ordered to raze villages and slay women and children, I started to doubt the intentions. Whenever I resisted my company was threatened of our families being murdered and raped. Now from the love of bloodshed and mettle of steel to this debauchery made me sick. I felt hollow and longed for the king to be slain even if it be my blade. He was corrupted, his soul blackedned by his greed for power.

One day a couple months later I reached my breaking point when I heard other soldiers laughing about the slaying of this port village and they were trading children ears. They've gone to far I thought. I attacked the men slaying two of them before their unit responded. My company moved quick to support me as we spilt the blood of every murderer there. There was no turning back. Long wanting to cleanse myself of my past, I set out to do right and came up with a plan to get the families of my soldiers into safety and flee the acursed lands of the tyrannical king. It meant death if we were caught. But we didn't care. All would have gone to plan save one of my men, Belius, fearing the plan would not work reported our plans to the king's guard. We were ambushed quickly when we reached the city. We fought tooth and nail but were vastly outnumbered. My company perished in the battle save three including myself. We were branded traitors. I were whipped and beaten many times. One night the castle was attacked by none other than Conan himself. My two men and I were set free and took up arms to finish what we started. I was amazed by the forces Conan commanded. We raced to the port to get the women and children on the boat we had requistioned.

A crossbolt caught me in the side as we untied the boat, I told the men to flee with their families and I would stand to hold the guard off. I fought valiantly but the last thing I remember was my thought of Belius betraying us. I woke up as a slave being sold to a setite. He branded me with a tatoo or marking of some kind. For some months I served as a slave not remembering much of my past. One night I escaped to visit a seer. She fortold that I would begin a journey of self-discovery and to seek out a black rose. I didn't understand her words clearly but took heed and left. We were then boarded on a ship, many slaves such as I. I noticed the tatoo on their back matched my own. When we neared land, the ship crashed and I was freed. I set out to bring honor, justice, and discipline to the evil of the world and seek out the black rose. Luck broke for me when I met two women bearing the black rose, in which I helped cleanse a tree of evil demons. I now found my sign and seek my destiny with the company of the black rose.
